Leslie Patricelli’s latest board book is an ode to the fart. With simple words and illustrations, it assures the reader that everybody toots. The baby from many of Patricelli’s previous books is the star of the show, as he toots his way through life. Kids will, of course, find it hilarious. Less hilarious is one unfortunate instance of gender stereotyping, where Mommy toots then pretends that she didn’t, right after Daddy does it with pride. I don’t think it’s a dealbreaker, but I do wish that she left it out.
