The Bookworm Files

Maple by Lori Nichols

Maple’s parents planted a tree for her before she was born–a maple tree, naturally. Maple and her tree grow up together, and even though a tree doesn’t always make the best playmate, Maple’s tree makes a great friend for her.

Then everything changes. Maple becomes a big sister, and while she tries to help out with the new baby, sometimes babies are loud. Very loud. Luckily, Maple’s tree is always there to lend a branch.

This spectacular picture book, the first by author Lori Nichols, is a heartwarming story with gorgeous illustrations. It’s a great choice for young children with a sibling on the way, but other kids will be drawn to it as well. Highly recommended.
